GREEN DASIA

Dasia smaragdina

 

These emerald green lizards are native to the rain forests of the Philippines, New Guinea, and other islands of Southeast Asia. Green Dasias are arboreal and their attractive appearance combined with their ease of care make them excellent pets. 

 

Maximum size: 10”

 

Lighting: Full spectrum fluorescent UV bulbs and a basking light are required. 

 

Temperature range: Day 77°-83°F Night 70°-75°F

 

Food:  Crickets, mealworms and wax worms coated in calcium and vitamin powder.  Sweet fruit or fruit varieties of baby food should also be offered.

 

Water: A shallow dish of clean water should always be available. Mist the enclosure and foliage in morning and late afternoon.

 

Housing/Habitat: An aquarium equipped with an under tank heating pad, with jungle mix or orchid bark as a substrate.  Landscape to simulate their natural habitat with plenty of climbing and hiding places.  It is important to mist the substrate to keep it slightly damp and provide some extra humidity.
