GREEN STRIPED DRAGON

Japalura chapaensis

Green Striped Dragons are tree dwelling lizards found in the mountain forests of Southern China and Southeast Asia.  These lizards are docile and make hardy pets as long as they are kept well hydrated with moderate heat.

Maximum size: 12”

Lighting: Full spectrum fluorescent high UVB bulbs and a low wattage basking light are required.

Temperature range: Day 71°- 78°F Night 68°-72°F

Food:  Crickets, waxworms, and mealworms coated in calcium and vitamin powder.

Water: A container of clean water should always be provided.  Misting daily to provide water droplets for drinking is important to keep them well hydrated.

Housing/Habitat: Their natural habitat can be simulated with an aquarium equipped with an under tank heater at one end.  The bottom of the aquarium should be covered with a jungle mix type litter, landscaped with plants, rocks, and driftwood for basking and climbing.  It is important to provide hiding places for the lizard.  Frequently misting the terrarium and substrate will provide the necessary humidity.
