Ocellated Skinks inhabit the steppes and open forests of Central Asia where they live among the leaves or under rocks.  They should have 4 to 8 weeks of winter dormancy.

 

Maximum size: 4.8”

 

Lighting:  Full spectrum fluorescent bulbs are recommended.  A basking light should be provided during early morning hours.

 

Temperature range: Day 77° –86° Night 68°

 

Food:  Small crickets coated in calcium and vitamin powder.

 

Water: A small shallow bowl of clean water should always be available.  Mist daily with water as they normally drink water in droplets.   

 

Housing/Habitat: Their natural habitat can be simulated with an aquarium equipped with an under tank heater at one end and sand substrate.  Landscape with rocks, bark, and leaves to provide hiding places.
